The Interconnection Process Enhancements (IPE) Initiative is the ISO’s ongoing commitment to improve its Generator Interconnection and Deliverability Allocation Procedures (GIDAP) and make process enhancements as resource interconnection needs evolve. The 2021 IPE initiative will discuss and address issues the CAISO and stakeholders have identified given current circumstances, and will seek to resolve concerns that have surfaced since the 2018 IPE initiative. This initiative will also consider long-term interconnection process adjustments and refinements as necessary.

Outcome: The California ISO IPE Phase 1 Tariff amendments were effective as of Sep. 01, 2022 and Business Practice Manuals (BPM) changes were published. IPE1 benefits market participants by improving the generator interconnection process, by providing greater visibility and transparency to stakeholders, eliminating manual workarounds, and providing a single source of data.
